but peter said , ananias, why hast satan filled thine heart to lie to the holy ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the field?

"Raw Abandonment"
by scout575 in"i continued to pray and seek the face of god, but nothing happened.
why didn't god help me?
i am begging for spiritual help.

I can totally refute the quoted experience above with my own testimony but before I do.....
>"I continued to pray and seek the face of God, but nothing happened. Why didn't God help me? Why?
Is this person a child of God, have they actually made a heartfelt decision to follow Jesus? If not then they have no right to an answered prayer.
>I am begging for spiritual help. I am not begging for a car, or food or anything material, I'm begging for spiritual help. It did not come. I have had trials before. I have even had spiritual "deserts" before. This was raw abandonment.
So they say....
>I have seen God fail other faithfuls also. People who I had known very well. Knew their hearts, their works etc.
Really, how can anyone know this?
>As leaders we promoted and talked about the ones who said that they succeeded spiritually. But from the platform I always saw the utter despair in the eyes of the ones sitting in the pews out there whom God didn't answer."
There is the lie. No Christian involved in church calls the altar a 'platform'. That, my friend is a tip off that this is no more than some anti-God troll with a fake testimony. It sounds remarkably like some ex-'Dub atheist who has the evil goal of devestating the little remaining faith that ones coming out of the cult have left. Dubs are conditioned to hate all things spiritual that are not Watchtower related. When they leave it is no victory for them as they are still trapped in the lie that the Watchtower teaches: "Where will we go?"

Did C.S. Lewis say this?

Hi James,
Your first erroneous assumption: you have concluded that I take all scripture totally literal. Your second error is to assume that God needs me to defend His judgements. Your most grievous error though, is to assume that you have some right to judge the Creator's actions. By His very nature God sets the days of our lives in this physical realm: He is the arbiter and has all providence and assumes full responsibility. Read the last couple of chapters of Job, you might get the sense of what I am saying.

The Passion of the Christ

Startingover,
You are spouting lunatic fringe assertions and even they are mostly confirming the actual existence of Jesus the Christ. He made such an impact on the culture that three major religions all adknowledge his existence. What they differ on is the details of course.

Hi Sunny,
Feel free to ignore the jerk who commented first. C.S. Lewis is such a fine author. He is well hated by those who try to insist that a Christian cannot also be an intellectual. In fact, Christianity is the MOST intellectual of all faiths. Lewis was one of the great thinkers and poets who ever graced this earth!

Are you at peace with God?
by JH in.
by telling us that we shall be destroyed at armageddon, and that we live a life that god doesn't approve of, the jw's are trying to make us believe that we are at odds with god.. were they successful?

>Why would anyone need to be at peace with a moronic fantasy?
So, Mr. Intellect. Since you know so much, what are the answers to the great questions of life? Please indulge us imbeciles, those that need a crutch of belief in God to make it through the night (Isn't that what the elitist intellectuals believe?).

Scriptures You Will Not Hear at the 07-04-06 Church Sermon
by scout575 in"enter ye at the strait gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
" ( matthew 7:13,14 ).
"then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

Those who have left were not believers, they had 'head knowledge' that never translated to 'heartfelt'. The good thing is that the offer of grace still holds true. They can always go back. I believe that any who sincerely ask such will receive the guidance that they need to find a happy home in a church family that suits them.

Are Christendoms Sheperds any Better than Witness Sheperds?
by gumby ini've been out since about 1995.......and never had an elder call on me.
not that i desire this....but.. suppose you were an elder in a church of christendom and you were removed because you smoked and they felt you weren't exemplary.
after that, you never went to that church again.

Flyinghighnow,
>They recognize also that the collection of books it contains were chosen by the Catholic Church.
Actually, the Catholic Church used books that were not recognized as inspired by the Jews. That was corrected in the Reformation.
>In addition they use reason and tradition when approaching the Bible. They know the books have been translated repeatedly over the history of the books and that men do translate with prejudice and influence.
So, do you really think that they ignore the fact that you can compare manuscripts of 1000 years difference in age and that have NO substancitive difference in them? Have you studied their theology?
> The Anglican Church does not discount science when reading scripture. They are the exact opposite of the JW's.
So, how do they 'draw the line' so to speak? What I mean is this, do they accept some of it as inspired and some not? If so, how do they maintain any consistent belief or do they just revise everything according to the world-view of the popular culture?

Hi Dan,
>Wow, Ananias and Saphira have been burning in hell now for almost 2000 years now!
Actually, NO. They did not lose their salvation. They lost their immediate and temporary life here on earth.
For Scout,
Have you ever actually read any Biblical passage in context or did you never unlearn the JW taught habit of single scripture exegesis?
